3M Filtrete HEPA filter bag is a great way to clean your home, and practice some air filtering, without sending some of the dust and other allergens back into the air. Replacement HEPA filters can help you keep the air in your home clean, while retaining the suction of the vacuum system even while the bag Is nearly full. It is important to note, however, that the 3M Filtrete bag is not actually a HEPA filter bag. There are some differences, and each 3M Filtrete HEPA filter bag has its own advantages.
Replacement HEPA filters
A true HEPA filter is rather rigid. While it is cleanable and washable, and rarely needs replacing, there are occasionally some small problems with such a filter. Its rigidity makes it easier for some particles to completely bypass the filter, leaking out around the seal. The 3M version is heat sealed, and so particles are less likely to make it outside. Additionally, the HEPA often has a pressure drop, and this can affect the suction quality of your vacuum. The Filtrete experiences a much lower pressure drop, and so the suction remains almost at maximum. This can be very helpful as one attempts to continue cleaning. Finally, the more disposable 3M Filtrete costs quite a bit less (right around five dollars per filter). There are some filters designed to look similar to HEPA, or to do sort of the same job, but are not true HEPA filters. A true filter of this nature costs more than eighty dollars.
The advantages of a filter bag over a regular paper vacuum bag are considerable, even if you do not get a Filtrete bag. This is because the ordinary paper bag allows dust, dander and other irritants back into the air. Additionally, once the bag is about half full, the suction ability diminishes and the cleaning is not as effective. You do not get as much dirt and debris up, and more of it is being put back into the air. This is not a very efficient way to clean the house. A bag made to trap allergens and one that does not experience the same level of pressure drop can be well worth the money in the long run, like the 3M Filtrete HEPA filter bag.
